ksokoban in ubuntu 9.10

I liked ksokoban so much that I missed that game in Ubuntu 9.10, as this is really Gnome desktop. But i managed to have that game in my computer.

This is what I did:
1. Install KDE related library packages.

  • kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9)
    core libraries and binaries for all KDE applications
  • dep: libc6 (>= 2.7-1) [not alpha, ia64]
    GNU C Library: Shared libraries
    also a virtual package provided by libc6-udeb
  • dep: libc6.1 (>= 2.7-1) [alpha, ia64]
    GNU C Library: Shared libraries
    also a virtual package provided by libc6.1-udeb
  • dep: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) [not arm, armel, hppa]
    GCC support library
    dep: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.3) [arm, armel]
  • dep: libgcc4 (>= 4.1.1) [hppa]
    GCC support library
  • dep: libqt3-mt (>= 3:3.3.8b)
    Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime version), Version 3
  • dep: libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) [not armel]
    The GNU Standard C++ Library v3
    dep: libstdc++6 (>= 4.3) [armel]
  • dep: libunwind7 (>= 0.98.5-6) [ia64]
    A library to determine the call-chain of a program - runtime.

To download these files, I typed like this:

After this, I get the .deb file from this location:
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/i386/ksokoban/download

After that open the file with package installer.

Now, the game is ready to be played.

CDMA modem working in Ubuntu

After some hours of tweaking and heavy googling, finally I succeeded to make CDMA modem USB Dongle work in Ubuntu 9.10. With UTL U-sim, now I can browse internet .
But remind you, this UTL mobile broadband is slowest internet, I have ever used, slower than Dial-up. Not good for some serious browsing, but enough to make you feel that you can do google, My download speed is hardly 3.5 kbps. (I guess this is shared bandwidth and there are too many users right now). :)
This is one of the example of present situation of "Broadband Internet" in Nepal.

After lots of tweaking, my settings are as follows:
/etc/wvdial.conf :

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
Baud = 230400
##Init1=ATQ0
#Init1 = ATE0
#Init2 = AT$PBTYPE=1 RPTCON=1 MTRPTTYPE=3 SMSRUIM=0 SMSTYPE=1

Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Notify bug fixed

Lately, I am enjoying working in my laptop with Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, and it is one great improved OS.
Only problem, bugging me was the notifications popping out in very unusual place, very lower position than the upper taskbar.
Well after googling some more, I found the fix here:

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-restore-notifications-position-in-ubuntu-9-10-as-they-did-in-ubuntu-9-04.html

Now, the notifications are in right place.

Ubuntu truely rocks.

I found this while googling. Found very funny.

This Left Feels Right

There is a album from Bon Jovi, which I used to listen, titled " This Left Feels Right".
In present scenario in Nepal, I am thinking that all these leftist Politicians are feeling right, not only their thinking and vision, but I guess, their radical view is also shifting toward 'Right'.
One great leftist Politician (who is very sarcastic in public) has looted government vehicle in midnight. Well, well, what more can we expect now. As I read in today's newspaper, there are lots of more leaders who enjoy free ride in expensive government vehicles.
I can only hope, all the people from Nepal, can be political leader one day, maybe just for one day to enjoy the taste of being elite class.
